I Think My Upper Cabinets in
Cameron Park Are Falling Down
In following up on a call to a home in Cameron Park yesterday, I discover that the upper cabinets were falling away from the ceiling. The cabinets were hanging from the ceiling away from the wall, it appeared to be an anchorage problem. I could only see a few screws through the top of the units.
In checking further into why the cabinets were coming down, I could see that not all the screws made contact with solid backing. Sheetrock alone will not hold up these cabinets. Since it was an upstairs room, I climbed up into the attic space to look at the framing.
As my stud finder detected, there was only one minor board that was across this area. No amount of screws would pull this cabinet back up into place because there was nothing to grab onto in the attic. So I fixed it. I added plenty of new framing to help grab and pull up the sagging cabinets in Cameron Park.
